Fitzroy Street Upgrade
- Why is the balance of Fitzroy Street from Grey Street to St Kilda Junction not being proposed for streetscape upgrade along with other works? This was part of the original streetscape plan approved back in 2009.
- What is being addressed with respect to providing better lighting in Fitzroy Street from Grey Street to St Kilda Junction particularly on the north side of Fitzroy Street (Lakeside Drive to St Kilda Road) where currently there is very limited lighting adjacent to Albert Park Reserve? After all this is the entrance to Fitzroy Street from north, south and east where the perception of safety should commence.
- What about maintaining light fittings? Burnt out light globes are not being replaced and is a current issue.
- The Council proposes installing public art such as a sculpture, lighting or street art
- What are your views on sculpture, lighting and ‘street art’ (graffiti murals)?
- Do we really want any more ‘street art/graffiti’ in Fitzroy Street?
- What about the issue of displacement of graffiti to buildings and streets within close proximity?
- Do we want inviting street seating that cannot easily be vandalized e.g. metal rather than timber such as is installed in the CBD?
- What about ongoing maintenance of proposed garden beds located in the centre median of Fitzroy Street – how will this be managed on such a busy road?
